PF & ESI FAQs

Under the EPF Act, registration is mandatory only when your staff count reaches 20. However, employers can voluntarily apply for an EPFO code with the mutual consent of their staff even with fewer than 20 employees. This helps startups attract top-tier talent by offering PF benefits.

The ESI Act mandates coverage for employees whose gross monthly salary is **โ‚น21,000 or less**. If an employee’s gross wage exceeds โ‚น21,000, they fall outside the ESI ceiling, and ESI deductions are no longer applicable to their wage registers.

Any delay beyond the 15th of the next month attracts a mandatory interest rate of **12% per annum** under Section 7Q.
